I Don't Need NO Manners, 'Cause I Live In The HOOD.
(It's not what you think; the HOOD is a State of Mind!)
A colleague and I taught a job-readiness and business etiquette workshop for a group of High School students who were preparing for summer jobs. In the midst of the workshop, one young man - I'll call him Lenny, blurted out, "I don't need no manners 'cause I live in the HOOD!" Lenny had a wealth of demonstrated potential. He had a 3.8 grade point average.
Lenny happened to live in an economically depressed area. The litter of the streets clogged his mind. Lenny believed that he was his environment and that he would always BE his environment. "The Hood" isn't the ghetto of the city; it's the ghetto of the mind.
This powerful workbook is a self- directed tour for anyone who walks down the Streets of "The Hood". It provides a path to freeing yourself from the litter that clogs up the "mind works" - and limits your progress.
